What are Flower Essences?

December 30, 2009 By: William Greenbaum Category: General Interest

Flower essences are dilute extracts of various types of flowers and plants that are used to treat animals and people. They are similar to homeopathic remedies and herbal remedies and like homeopathic remedies they are diluted and potentized to make them more effective than just using the original flower as a herbal extract.

The person who first developed the original flower remedies was Dr. Edward Bach, a famous English physician. He developed the Bach Flower Remedies when he was working as a homeopathic practitioner and devoted the last years of his life to researching and developing his remedies, from 1930 onwards. He wanted to find a simpler form of treatment that would not require anything to be destroyed or altered.

Dr. Bach believed that diseases of the body come about as a result of imbalances or negativity at the level of the soul, and by correcting the problem here healing would result and the body would heal on all levels. The flower remedies act to balance in harmonies in the emotional and spiritual body, and bring about a gentle healing by bringing the body back in balance with itself. They act almost a catalysts to cause healing. There were originally thirty eight Bach Flower Remedies that at that time Dr. Bach felt would correct all imbalances that were possible. There are remedies such as Holly which he found would heal the state of anger, and open the heart, and remedies that deal with a variety of other emotions from lack of confidence to over enthusiasm and impatience.

Animals respond just as well to Bach Flower remedies as people, and seem to have similar emotional imbalances that can be corrected with the appropriate remedy. The flowers are gathered from nature when they are just at the point of perfection and it is important that the flowers are free from any toxins and preservatives. The remedies are made by leaving the flower out in the sun and the extracted essence is then diluted in water and preserved with alcohol to make a mother tincture. The resulting remedy is then diluted in spring water to make a solution that can be taken by an animal or a person.

Subsequent to Bach’s work other Flower Essence Societies have been formed and remedies have been developed that are appropriate to that particular area, or the times we are living in. The most important of these are the California Flower Essences that are developed from native American plants in the Sierra Nevada foothills in California. The Flower Essence Society has developed an extensive research program and been very important in helping people understand and use Flower Remedies as a healing tool.

EcoBio – The Biodegradable Plastic Doggie Bag that Breaks Down Like Its Price!

October 12, 2009 By: William Greenbaum Category: General Interest, New Products

Am I strange?

– for stocking EcoBio Biodegradable Plastic Doggie Bags on our site?  And then having the cheek to charge $6.95 per roll of 120 bags (so buy ten rolls and I’ll sell it to you for $5.50! ha!).

‘The nerve,’ they say,  ‘we can get biodegradable plastic doggie bags at the dollar store for about a buck. And you guys are charging six times that amount?’  Well no one ever said quality was cheap. And that’s the sub-text of this blog and my personal RANT! Cheap doesn’t mean good right? But hey its just a dorky doggie bag. Well true

EcoBio Doggie Bags, 120 per roll. Only $6.95!

EcoBio Doggie Bags, 120 per roll. Only $6.95!

enough and plastic is plastic, but that’s not how we think here at All Pet Naturals. You see the goal is also to think and act responsibly particularly about pet waste and the environment. It costs what it costs.

MacDonalds has been pumping out cheap plastic crap for 50 years and it goes straight to a landfill. People bought their food without thnking about where all the garbage went. So the argument about cheap doesn’t wash when it comes to the environment. Instead what I believe is that environmentally friendly products are important to our society, even though they cost a little more because its the direction we have to go for long-term sustainable living.

When people buy these cheap bags at corner stores they throw caution to the wind, go for price and get ‘hooked’ and ‘believe’ the manufacturer (usually from China) that the bag is biodegradable plastic, which it is not. Despite the label, these bags entomb their contents for months and can persist in the environment for years. Sorry not my bag!

I just have to laugh. Why? Well simply put the technology and resources to engineer this level of bio-degredation plastic found in the EcoBio bag only exists in the USA. Its called An ASTM D6954 Oxo-biodegradable Technology. It contains proprietary additives that accelerate degradation allowing the contents of the bag to biodegrade at about the same rate as a leaf — in about 90 days in your garden variety landfill site.

In addition, there are only two companies in the world that design and manufacturer these bags to this level of sophistication, and because I know the owner of one of those companies, and he’s a good friend, and their product is a huge runaway best seller, it was the natural choice to go with them and stock their product.

One last thing you might find interesting, EcoBio biodegradable plastic bags are used in the US Army’s “Unitized Group Ration Packages.” Yup. True. EcoBio ships to the US Army supply depot in Louisiana.

In just a few months after use, EcoBio bags start to break apart then totally disintegrate releasing the ‘organic carbon’ as a natural food source for microorganisms.

For your information, degradation is a natural aging oxidative process that is triggered by exposure to oxygen, heat, sunlight or stress,. Once started the process cannot be stopped which allows the bag to totally biodegrade in air or soil.

EcoBio bags are safe and comply with FDA requirements for direct food contact.

Online at our store, 120 bags per roll at $6.95.
